When Skill bill will be scheduled to debate / discuss in house as well as in Senate? Any idea please.

There has been some discussion about travel outside the US when one files for I-485. I found the official USCIS document (see the right hand side of page 4 on link below) that mentions that if you're on an "H" visa, which is the case for a lot of us, we can travel outside of the US without applying for advance parole.

Fragomen employees are told they represent the company. The company is their client. They are a corporate law firm. There are instances when the law firm represents you, the foreign national. Usually this is when you are applying via a marriage based case, or are in the final green card process and it has reached portability. There is information that law firms cannot release to you as some information requested belongs to the client, and they must receive authorization from the client. Yes, I used to work for Fragomen, before anyone wants to assume anything. I was a paralegal and worked hard for every case that was given into my hands. I specialized in the green card process and made sure I responded to every foreign national as quickly as I can. Please understand that paralegals and legal assistants are subject to the attorneys they work for. Therefore, some questions you may ask require an attorney to respond, and the paralegal or legal assistant's delay may be in trying to get the answer you require. I know not all Fragomen offices work the same. Not all will respond to you in the same manner. Some may be worse than others. So if you are going to defame Fragomen, would you please try to specify which office you are referring to?

To those of you who have had negative experiences, I am sorry that your case went to someone who only looked at their work as a job. For me, each one of my foreign nationals were special cases, each required as much care and concern that I could give them. None of my cases were ever denied. I wish you all the best in this process. And for the person who had asked about the prevailing wage, it comes from the state employment department, not the federal government. Some offices work faster than others. When a prevailing wage comes back higher than what you are making, the law firm then has to go back to the employer to find a resolution, which can mean either an increase in the salary once you have received the green card, or confirmation that is what you will be making at that time, or a reduction in the requirements, which can sometimes take a case from EB2 to the EB3 visa category.

If my attorney is to be believed, USCIS will clarify on Wednesday regarding whether/how to file without receipt notice.
BTW turns out I'm with Nebraska SC too. I had just assumed I would be in TX given that I live in TX! :D
Lets wait till Wednesday then.

I said I am not defending IEEE....so where the question of praising comes?
I've read the document. IEEE is supporting "Immigration Visas" but not H-1B visas(temporary).
Can you shed some light what they meant by "Immigration Visas"?
It would be great if you can give us an example of some one coming on "Immigration Visa" and becoming a permanent resident and subsequently a US citizen.

Please stays away from Syed H Simin PC law firm. They don't answer calls, the receptionist or the front desk phone operator is very rude. Most of them who answer phone calls have a heavy accent , don't know the current immigration procedures or law but still they try to answer your questions. Most of the time they put your call on hold for 15+ mins and hang up on you. Very frustating and totally unprofessional. I wouldn't want to hire them even if they provide service at no charge.
Only 3 people in this firm know how to talk politely and answer your question properly, and they are the actual attorneys. The rest of them in the law office think that they are the DOS chief :) You won't find such kind of people even in a 99c store :D

that is true and if you actually go a hospital u know that the nurses are really needed. maybe we should get a direct GC too :)

population has become hostile to the whole concept of foreign engineers/IT workers. Companies like Infosys, TCS hire 100% IT staff from India etc.
(saying that no US citizen/GC available...thats like lying in broad daylight)
Nurses came on Green cards and were free to change jobs etc. so
they affected the local job market to a far lesser degree so the opposition
is less.

Can we all just "grow up" and get along ? I think only then we have "one voice"
sorry buddy, that's too much to ask from this group of educated illiterates, who talk of king and know that someone with the name chanakya existed in the past, but don't understand the concept of "growing up".
Every morning I get up, go to work, and logon to these forums every now and then. And everyday I see someone venting out at the only set of folks who are actually trying to do something about our issues. We know for fact that there is no other group who is working to fix green card backlog. But almost everyone who visits these forums never miss a chance to throw things at folks trying to do something.
If it was me, I would said - screw you educated illiterates because you don't deserve anything.
But hey, who am I to say this to the elites with highly blotted ego.
For few days I saw a thread asking this group to do something about the aged out kids of legal immigrants. I saw that thread for over a week and was tempted to support that initiative. And then, 3-4 days back, I saw a request for media interview from anyone who is facing "aged out" issue. And you know how may people showed up for the media interview, ZERO. There was not a soul on this forum willing to speak up for their own issues, but some of the folks in that thread wouldn't stop blaming others for not doing enough. How do I know all this, because I read those posts.
So in the end, we want someone to spoon feed us, do baby siting over us, while we continue to vomit and throw-up on that group of people every few hours. Yes, your question is legitimate - Can we all just "grow up"???? NO

I find your comment hard to digest. I have a graduate degree and am experienced, I couldn'f find a job and I tried hard, not everyone succeeds, I am sure I am not the only skilled H-4 that couldn't get an H-1B even though tried hard. But that is not what I want to comment right now.
I understand your post during 2005, I do not get it now, when the L-1 spouses can work and if immigration laws are passed for the illegals to have work permits and let the spouses work, it will be completely biased for the H-4 visa holders. As per that there is no excuse for ignoring the H-4 laws you are right, there is no excuse for ignoring them but there is no excuse to let the L-1 spouses work and not the H-1b spouses. More so now with the illegal spouses, don't you think that we should be allowed to work?

The man must have real conviction and courage and belief in himself and this effort to do such a selfless act and I am not even talking about the hours and hours of time, mental energy, physical stress and emotional capital he must have invested into OUR effort and I am not talking about all that because that is immeasurable and there is not much we can do to repay all that back but there is something we can do.

So if we show everything else that our 140 application was accepted by USCIS, they may later ask for a receipt ......

They hushed up and approved my EAD in 20 days. Why ???? 'cos So they don't hit Jun'30 and give 2 years. They wanted to milk another 680 from me so they hushed up and sent me the 1 year EAD in 20 days.
