I am Glad to see some momentum pick up again. How much have we raised so far?

    New Day today.

Good morning everyone. Let's get back to making this campaign a roaring success. We need new High Fives today people. All those IV brothers and sisters who havent yet contributed their $5.00, please do so. It is a great cause and lets face it, IV is the ONLY organization of the legal immigrants, by the legal immigrants, AND FOR the legal immigrants ONLY.

Also let us remember to update our signatures and include a link to this thread.

USCIS_COMPLAINT is an inactive email account should be reported to the Ombudsman as well.

As for management, following are responsible for NSC:-

    Director: Gerard Heinauer

    Deputy Director: Gregory W. Christian

Yep, my email bounced back as well. Do you happen to have emails for the Director and the Dy. Director?

I'm ready to fill the sixth slot . I have contributed to rally before and i will match Milind's next contibution.

Thank you Bala. Guys this is the best opportunity. Where else will you get a 50% return on your money? This is the time not to hesitate, but to pull the trigger. When you contribute 3 more people will follow and after that the last two shots are guaranteed.

I have closed on two mortgage loans recently and found that Loan Underwriters don't understand EAD/ AOS applications. For my original loan with Pulte Mortgage I explained them that AOS is a period authroized stay by Attorney General until Green card is approved. When they still didn't understand I had to bump my down payment to 20% which apparently puts less resrtictions (By Fannie Mae guidelines).

When I refinanced this week with PFCU (pentagan federal CU) I sent them EAD copies and they were OK with it.

    Dude,
show me one link where i can go back and change the language in the poll?

All of you are making it very hard for me to keep the decorum of this forum.

So much name calling.. nasty PMs.... All i can say is God Bless y'all

Did you check the grammar of your polling question?

I support this. But might to be able to help with the fee

If this is EB2, I am glad/proud/honor to be EB3

    :)

I don't think so, all centers which handle 485s will look at the application delivered date as the the RD.

I was asking this because some agencies consider the post marked date as the date the appllication was filed. But thanks for the response

Did you know that Aman Kapoor the founder of IV has contributed $64000 of his personal money towards the efforts of IV? Yes that is correct Sixty Four Thousand USD. http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/...eek+exclusives
I was dumbfounded when I first found this out. The man must have real conviction, courage and belief in himself and this effort to do such a selfless act and I am not even talking about the hours and hours of time, mental energy, physical stress and emotional capital he must have invested into OUR effort and I am not talking about all that because that is immeasurable and there is not much we can do to repay all that back but apart from being for ever indebted there is something we can do.
We can reach for our wallets and repay IV core members who have contributed selflessly to OUR cause.
Every one of us has benefited in some way or the other because of our association to IV and who do we have to thank but the core team who have put so much on the line for OUR cause.
Please join in this effort to reimburse the expenses incurred by IV core to fight for OUR cause. Join http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10708

I keep reading we should fight for out rights and all. I am just curious
where does it say if on is on H1B or F1, he or she has a right to get a GC. GC or citizenship is a privilege, we cant demand it or force someone to give it to us. Its a simple demand and supply situation, there are more visa seekers then there is availability and therefore there is a waiting period. i am not sure why we don't accept the simple fact that there are way too many people from developing country like ours moving to US, and not everyone can be accommodated ASAP. i think US has every right to do what it thinks is best for her, even if we don't agree with that,
And those who say its discrimination, discrimination is when people from Bihar are beaten up on the streets of mumbai cause they are taking jobs away from marathi manus. Had there been so many techies from around the world taking up jobs in India, we would have seen street lynching.

You got me all curious now, if you accept the status quo, why are you here in this site as a member? Don't get me wrong, but I'm curious to know what is your objective in becoming a member of IV.

How can you join a company on 11/2010 and apply for Perm EB2 on 12/22/2010 ?

I thought they needed to place an ad and do interviews and pre-Perm process takes about 6 months.

I am in 6th year of H1 and I am changing jobs. The new employer will file for GC but since the new H1 will be extended for only 1.5 yrs I was wondering if I will have enough time to get thru to the I-140 stage in that time.

    Any Opinion/Suggestion ?

Its pretty easy, a small desi company will start your PERM GC process even before you join them.
You can use this, to start the process in 2 or 3 companies, and when everything is cleared join the one where its sure of getting approved.

I never came here to study. Have you heard of IIT/REC's in India. I understand there are other colleges/universities in india which your are describing here or u might have studied there but same is true for US as all universities are not A grade. There is a way to tell the fact, not to exaggerate and that too by an indian. if an american say this i can understand that he is ignorant about the facts.

Anyways all the best for Green Green Card. I can understand the desperation
i agree with you Karan and totally disagree with Gayatri. I routinely interview undergrad and MBA grad students on campus from top 10-15 universities/ b-schools in US for my company's management analyst and associate programs.

I do not find any material difference one way or the other in the quality of output between here and India (i cant speak to MS or other grad programs). Just because we are here does not mean we have to go out of the way to either short-sell our respective motherlands or indulge in trash talk about our home country to make us look more "american". And FYI - quotas are no different from affirmative action.

In fact, i read either in NY Times or Wall Sreet Journal a couple of days back that Japan is now "in awe" of indian basic school education and latest fad in Tokyo is Indian schools or schools that use Indian teaching methodology and employ indian teachers.

Important people (lawmakers and others who can make things happen) know there is a problem with GC. They don't know how big. We show up in small numbers; well, they are going to interpret it like that; a small problem; as simple as that. To solve small problems takes big (long) time.

The funny thing is, if this happens; people who knew that the size of the rally mattered, and who could have very easily showed up, but will not come, assured in their mind, other people will show up, also end up being losers.

You want to know who these people are; people who will go to the office that day, people who do not have a single (even unimportant meeting), people whose boss dont care if they are in the office or not, those who have no deadlines, those who have plenty of PV days left, those within 100 miles of DC, those who can pick up the phone on 18th and tell their boss about taking a day off (and the boss replying OK Thats fine), the people who will waste their entire freaking day going to sites like CCN, ABC News, Samachar.com and god know what other sites, trying to find the latest news about the rally, and once in a while folding their tiny hands and looking up at the roof of their cubicle and murmuring Please God, make this rally a grand success.

No amount of coaxing, urging, reasoning, and other forms of persuasion will ever let us drag you out of your cubicle.

Confused if you belong to this group. Think hard for about 10 minutes before you start insulting me. Maybe one of the above points doesnt apply to you. In my dictionary, not attending the rally, certainly doesnt put you in this very special group of people. All the points stated above need to be applied (including the prayer point) to you, to qualify.

    Folks,

I know this has been discussed in the past on this and other message boards but I wanted to hear some more opinions about it. What is the value of green card to you?

I know different ppl have different reasons like ability to switch jobs, ability to travel freely, ability to have a job for spouse etc. All said and done how many of you would like to go back to your home countries in the next 5-6 years? I know a lot of people have issues such as aging parents back home or they simply don't see themselves living in a foreign land forever. I guess my question is what percentage of ppl aspiring for a GC view it as a convenience vs percentage of ppl who actually see it as a path to settling down in US for good.

    Thanks

you should maybe set it up as a poll. as for me, I am here for good unless asked to leave :-)

I just spoke with an Immigration Representative of my Senator. She knows me as I met her last year with my employer for my other issue.

She just informed me that we are (Not only we but whole Congress) shocked with un-precedent action of DOS/USCIS for July VB. Senator's Washington DC office is working on this issue including immediate legislative relief to Employment Based immigration. She is well aware of whole drama of July VB. I am going to call Washington DC Office as well.

I encourage every one call to their Senator and HR and speak with Immigration Representative. I think first time media and lawmakers have acknowledged the problem of Employment Based Immigration.

Call make much impact than the email/fax

Can this be in head thread. So peole start organize and call based on this information.

    Just wondering...
How many people would benefit out of this big movement?
What estimated # of applications is USCIS expecting through this movement?
If the dates were current last year same time, how many ppl with PDs between 2004 and 2006 would have missed the bus last year? Dont think many wld have...
Excuse my ignorance if there is a basic mistake in my assumption

If uscis works more efficiently, several thousand EB2 i may benefit.

Below is reproduced from uscis 7/07 explanation for last yr july fiasco. "60000 visa numbers available were made available" during the weekend of june/july 07.

during the past month have resulted in the use of almost 60,000 Employment numbers. As a result of this unexpected action it has been necessary to make immediate adjustments to several previously announced cut-off dates. All Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices have been notified of the following:
Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation have been made available.

Its been close to 2-3 weeks since Ombudsman's office got to know about this issue. Inspite of them contacting TSC they still do not have a response yet. So now its time to send Ombudsman's office with completed Form 7001 so that they get to investigate your individual case and assist you. They are obligated by law to investigate and respond to your request. The more people send out those forms, the more important it becomes for them to address this issue on a priority basis. So please take the time to mail out the forms soon.
