People who are on H4 ITIN couples, should seriously consider discrimination based litigation. I am fully sympathetic to their situation. Not long ago I was in the same boat. Make it harder for the government to make dimes on your money. They wont make it harder for you then.

Seriously, does anyone have the transcript and slides/charts used? The good professor (Wadhwa) might be right, or wrong, or both. But I want to take a good look at the charts and the raw data. As they say, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Of course, it is all an academic exercise.. Prof. Wadhwa (or me) can no more affect the global movement of knowledge and capital than King Canute could hold back the tide. But, it is far better an exercise than getting in the mud pit and hurling at each other :rolleyes:

We are not changing laws, we are petitioning. We are educatiing the various sections of American society, lawmakers, fourth estate.
We are asking for the rationale for collecting the Social Security Tax and Medicare, when you don't get its benefits. Pure and simple. You see, we are resident aliens NOT LPRs (Legal Permanent Residents a.k.a Green Card Holders).Benefits for which you are paying social security tax, you are not eligible while on H1. So, please don't use extreme words. When illegal aliens can demonstrate and influence law makers, what is wrong for legal aliends in writing to lawmakers, newspapers etc.
If you are laid of, will you get unemployment benefits? Job retraining. No, You are out of status. So, is it incorrect to ask for this? I am not talking about Income Taxes. Go and look at my posts. I am a strong advocate of core IV goals.
In this thread, instead of asking impractical PD dates, I suggested why don't we question the collection of SS and Medicare tax from H1 workers?
This is the most outrageous and ridiculous stuff anyone could have heard. We want to change the laws of the land to benefit us. We are lucky that the core IV team has accomplished so much in such a short time with limited resources. My I140 is pending since 16 May 2007. My employer is not helping much. Employer is not giving his attorney contact number also. After calling millions of times they putted one service request 4 months back but nothing happend. I talked to few attonrnies they told they can only work if your employer signs G28 form for me. But my employer is not even picking my phone. Can I do any thing without my Employer's help?

Diptam , its been repeatedly said CIR is not law yet , so dont think otherwise and be best wishes that it wont pass in current form. I hope there would be somthing as in case Law cant be retroactive. So cheerup and lets hope for the best.

I received good news on June 1, 2007 that my I-140 is approved. It was received by USCIS on May 22, 2007. Then later that day I saw the new immigration bill. If this very unreasonable bill (EB backlog) will be passed the wasting of all the money, time, stress, anxiety and hope towards the GC procedure will make the whole thing look like a bitter joke. This is beyong my wildest imagination on how bad things can go since we are all hard-working and law-abiding legal immigrants. Is it a punishment for being a good member of society?
I'm praying that it will not be given any consideration by those who have powers.

Please change these security lapses thing. You might be hurting yourselves in the long run. If You are thinking that this is not a big issue in DOS/USCIS, You are mistaken. This is a hot button issue in both agencies. Focus on quality of life issues and other losses incurred. Do not play with security. Its going to come back and hurt us. It means USCIS has pre-adjudicated your I-485 if it was filed before october 2008.
i thought it meant that you had to wait 4 months after your priority date is current to have any expectation of adjudication... no?

USCIS to Issue Two-Year EAD for I-485 Waiters at End of June 2008
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security announced on 06/09/2008 that the DHS would start issuing two-year EAD beginning from end of June 2008 for the I-485 filers. Hooray!
Announcement: "I'm also pleased to announce that we will be extending the validity period of the employment authorization documents that we issue to individuals who are waiting adjustment of status to lawful permit residenture or in colloquial phrase, the green card. Currently, adjustment applications are granted employment authorization documents with only a one year maximum validity. Beginning later this month, we'll start issuing these documents with a two-year validity period for aliens who are waiting adjustment of status if their application is expected to be pending for more than a year. This, again, is eliminating a persistent source of frustration for workers who are here, who have a pending adjustment application but have to go and renew their employment documents every single year. It's going to cut the paperwork there."

Agree. Truthinspector is simply expressing his opinion and if one doesn't agree, just put your side of the arguments to counter his but their is no need for character assassination. It's perfectly fine to disagree with someone but there are better ways of letting him/her know that.
